Should firms use a holistic approach ?

Based on my opinions, firms should adopt both PPC and SEO in order to cover the gaps. This is to helps firms to drive better results. Not only that, it also help to drive more traffic to the websites.

Results of using holistic approach:

  1. Keyword search and data can be fed from PPC to SEO
  2. The total volume of the traffic can be increased in targeted clicks using better keywords.
  3. Expensive keywords, or high-volume or low volume can be converted from PPC to SEO
  4. A or B testing of the ad copy can adopt into organic listing and landing pages.
  5. Re-marketing can help pages to stay in front of the visitors to offer initial touch through organic search and custom message to engage them on your sites.
  6. Test PPC keyword before adopting into SEO for long term strategies.
  7. Target all the users from research to comparison to purchase based on their keywords.
  8. Help to boost confidence and awareness by having strong organic and paid visibility.

  1. It is an insightful and good read, I learnt quite a bit from your post 😊 .
I agree with your view that firms should adopt both PPC and SEO to drive better results and to gain more traffic flow. Personally, whenever I search something on Google, I tend to skip the first few searches that appear (SEM – paid ads) as it makes me question its reliability, and look for the organic ones (SEO) below as it seems like “trustworthy” and “reliable”. I feel that PPC is good for start-ups or companies who want to gain exposure in a short period of time. After which, they can put in more efforts into SEO to improve brand loyalty/trust as it has a lasting effect on the brand.

  2. I agree with you that companies should combine SEO and PPC for their SEM strategy. Apart from the possible reasons that you mentioned. I would say that SEO should be backbone of the SEM strategy and be supplemented by PPC. This will allow your website to score higher in relevance and win ad bids at lower cost. I also believe that, these two should also be complemented by analytics. You can read up more on my suggestion to combine the 3 on my blog post here: https://azrinhamdan.com/2019/09/04/create-a-triple-threat-sem-strategy-by-combining-seo-ppc-analytics/

  4. Ultimately, I agree that both should be used in a marketing strategy. Each have its own pros and cons, and that is where we have to maximise the benefits of each to compensate for the cons.

  5. Interesting read! I do believe that both have their pros and cons. Ultimately, i still think that it’s how marketers and brands leverage on them. As different companies have different budget, i believe that with a good amount of research and plan, companies can still make use on these SEO or SEM at their potential reach,
